The Original Idea

The primary function of this tool would be to listen, record, and synthesize notes. It would not answer questions but instead collect and self-organize information.

The tool would primarily focus on listening and recording. It must feature a voice input interface to ensure it's ready to take notes at a moment's notice under any circumstances.

After recording, the tool would interpret the input. If the input is coherent, it would generate a note. If not, it would tactfully ask questions to clarify, careful not to disrupt the flow of thoughts. It would wait for a natural pause or a "breaking point" before asking for clarification. These questions would aim solely to clarify and organize the unclear aspects of the received input.

Once the information is coherent, the tool would integrate it into the "knowledge base."

This knowledge base would likely be structured as a graph database, serving as a foundation for other tools, such as a typical chatbot capable of answering questions about it.

The Note-Taking tool might also feature the ability to display the knowledge base, allowing users to see how new thoughts have been added and to verify their accuracy.

Consider implementing an audit trail to track the evolution of the knowledge base.

How the Idea Emerged

Frequently, I have creative thoughts in the shower or as I'm falling asleep, which I often forget by the next day. Even when I take notes, I rarely find time to organize them or maintain the knowledge base. I was in search of a solution that could autonomously manage this process or require minimal supervision.

Implementation ideas

  1. Phone app with a walky-talky push button sending voice-to-text to server?
  2. Simple chat like UI. Conversational, so the tool can ask clarifications via the same interface
